The Tasmanian Community Fund (TCF) Board approved $74,000 of funding for seven organisations for Social Impact and Evaluation in October.

Project funding was made available to not-for-profit organisations looking to boost their team’s community and organisational capacity to better measure and improve how effectively they create positive change.

Funded organisations included Richmond Futures Mental Health Recovery and Wellbeing, The Drug Education Network, JCP Youth, the Migrant Resource Centre, Fostering Hope, the Tasmanian Association of State School Organisations and the Kuno Foundation.

Richmond Futures Chief Capability Officer Mat Rowell said this type of development opportunity for small organisations like theirs is important and they are very thankful to the TCF for providing the funding.

“The not-for-profit sector relies on Government and other funders to provide the resources to deliver programs and services. In order to continue to do this, we need to demonstrate our impact, which is becoming more and more important,” Mat said.

“Having evaluation frameworks is more critical than ever. We need to have tools to evaluate our programs, not just for our funders, but also for clients who expect a quality service.

“With this funding we are engaging with a social impact organisation to create a framework for impact and measurement as well as upskill our staff so we can apply it to all our programs.

“Critically, we’ll be applying it to one program in the first instance to ensure that it is appropriate and then roll out across all our programs once we’re happy with how it is working.

The TCF recognise the level of interest and positive discussions with organisations during this funding round and we will be making an announcement about further social impact and measurement opportunities in the near future.
