Community Action Grants support practical, community-led projects that respond to local needs and opportunities and create clear benefits for Tasmanian communities.
They are designed to make funding accessible for local organisations and groups wanting to turn good ideas into action.

What Community Action can support
Community Action Grants may support projects that:
- strengthen community participation and connection
- respond to an identified local need or opportunity
- create opportunities for people to come together and participate in community life
- improve access to community activities, spaces or services
- strengthen local resilience and wellbeing
- enable communities to test or develop new ideas.
Funding may also support community gathering spaces and social infrastructure where there is a clear community benefit. This may include improvements to community-owned or community-managed facilities, but is not intended to replace routine government or council asset maintenance and renewal.
Events may be considered where they create new opportunities for participation, connection or community benefit. TCF is not intended to be an ongoing source of funding for established or recurring events.
Funding available
Community Action Grants are available in two categories:
Small grants – up to $15,000
For smaller projects with a simpler application and assessment process.
Standard grants – $15,001 to $50,000
For larger community projects requiring a greater level of planning and information.
The requirements for each category are proportionate to the amount of funding being sought.
