What Major Initiatives can support
Major Initiatives may include work that:
- responds to a significant or persistent community challenge
- creates substantial or lasting community benefit
- brings organisations, communities and partners together around a shared opportunity
- strengthens the systems, relationships or conditions that support communities to thrive
- develops or demonstrates new approaches to complex challenges
- strengthens important community infrastructure or social infrastructure where there is a strong case for long-term community benefit.
TCF is looking for initiatives where the scale of the funding sought is matched by the scale of the opportunity, community benefit and ambition.
Funding available
Major Initiative Grants are available across three funding tiers:
Tier 1: $100,000 to $400,000
Tier 2: $400,001 to $800,000
Tier 3: $800,001 to $1.5 million
The level of information and evidence required will increase with the scale, complexity and risk of the proposal.
How the process works
Major Initiative Grants use a two-stage application process.
Stage 1 – Expression of Interest
Applicants provide enough information for TCF to understand the proposed initiative, its strategic fit, community need, intended benefits and overall approach.
Selected applicants will be invited to proceed to Stage 2.
Stage 2 – Final proposal
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to provide a more detailed proposal.
The information required will be proportionate to the size and complexity of the funding being sought.
Before you apply
Major Initiatives require significant planning. Read the grant guidelines carefully and contact TCF if you would like to discuss whether your proposal is a good fit before submitting an Expression of Interest.
