2024 Emerging Community Leaders wrap up in St Helens

The 2024 Emerging Community Leaders participated in their last residential at St Helens in October, with the theme of ‘leading for impact and legacy.’
Part of the residential was a conversation with local community leaders.
The panel was chaired by TCF Board member Stephen Walley and panellists included Break O’Day Council Mayor Mick Tucker, Live 4 Life Project Officer Casey Musuka and Assistant General Manager at Fingal and St Helen’s Community Houses Rebecca Tuck.
East Coast participant Geraldine O’Connor found the Emerging Community Leaders program incredibly insightful for her role as a community leader.
“I got lots of different ideas about working with volunteers and voluntary organisations, a lot of upskilling and strengthening my skills, as well as appreciating the skills I already have,” Geraldine said.
Through the community leader's panel Geraldine learned from the first-hand experience of the guest speakers and made important connections that will allow her to boost her skills as a leader.
“The panel was a great session, Stephen Walley did a great job at drawing out the knowledge from the panel guests and it was fantastic that the panel guests had done the training as well,” she said.
“When you’re a leader sometimes it can feel like you are on your own, so it is nice to have other people around that you can call on.”
The Emerging Community Leaders in this cohort will graduate in early 2025.
