Cardiac program continues to beat strong

We were thrilled to recently hear some positive feedback from a project we funded nine years ago, which has gone from strength to strength.

Seed funding for the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic at the Royal Hobart Hospital was provided in 2014. It set up a nurse led trial helping people implement lifestyle changes when they have experienced cardiac pain but did not have any pre-existing cardiac conditions. It was hoped that through this approach, people would be more likely to make the changes needed when they had a heightened need for help.

We are proud of projects like this. The team behind the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic have made a real difference.

Cardiologist Dr Andrew Black said the clinic has now seen over 6,000 new patients with chest pain and the research program has resulted in three published papers. It’s been a highly successful program, and regarded as a model of care for other centres nationally and internationally.
