Professional Early Intervention Resource Services (PEIRS) - $386,200 over three years - Good Beginnings Australia - Hobart

PEIRS will provide a model of professional early intervention resource services to families with children under 3 years of age to support the Volunteer Home Visiting and Parenting Program and the Life Skills Parenting Program conducted in Southern Tasmania.

A male and female professional early intervention worker will provide outreach services for both fathers and mothers to:

  • facilitate accessibility and gender based delivery on request;
  • provide appropriate role modelling ; and
  • provide support for parents to learn self-help and parenting sills.

The Life Skills Parenting Program will include:

  • group sessional work in local communities in partnership with key stakeholders. The sessions will focus on parents? strengths and building self esteem including practical life skills such as cooking, health, hygiene and budgeting; and
  • materials and resources for new parents.
