Presbyterian Care Tasmania provides care for the aged and disabled. They provide specialist dementia care in Launceston and Hobart, operate day centres in Hobart and Legana, and residential aged care facilities in Launceston, Legana, Hobart and Scottsdale. They also operate a retirement village that is co-located with their facility in Launceston.

The Tasmanian Community Fund provided support to develop a healing and therapeutic garden in the backyard of the Nursing Home at Warrane for residents with high care needs, dementia or challenging behaviours.

The area was formerly underutilised and unsafe but is now an inviting area that offers an environment for residents, their families and friends to enjoy. The secure space contains a specialised sensory garden that offers residents a place to relax and participate in activities that will increase their wellbeing. Staff have found that they are able to provide a gentle and effective distraction to residents who become unsettled or agitated by taking them outside to the calming influence of the garden.

The garden also helps to bring families and friends together with the residents by offering an environment that assists with visitors feeling more comfortable in a sometimes challenging situation.
